Annual chapbook contests are currently: OPEN until 5/31. More details can be found in the below categories.

You can find winners from our previous contests here.

Sometimes we take longer than we'd like to read and respond to your work. We're sorry to make you wait, but know that we're grateful to have the opportunity to read your writing as soon as we can.

As of 2017, annual issues of Paper Nautilus are on a hiatus. It's just too much to juggle right now. We're bummed about it, too. BUT, we still have plenty of annual issues from 2011 - 2016 available here. We hope to be back to making great literary magazines again soon.

If you don't have a manuscript, or aren't interested in picking up some of our (rather stellar) chapbooks or back issues, feel free to enjoy a free digital download of Excavating Honesty: An Anthology of Rage and Hope in America

While we don't feature artwork in the interior of Paper Nautilus, we're always happy to consider art to be used as covers for our annual issue or our chapbooks.

NOTE: this category is more of a "pool" for us to browse through, and not handled the way our written submissions are - so while we peruse these submissions regularly, we don't actively "decline" submissions. This choice is because there's no way for us to predict in advance what images might be the best fit for our chapbooks' themes.

Submit up to three images, 300 dpi, in .jpg format.  Full color images are preferred (but not required); no particular style, just send your best!
